Noonka was born at the intersection of science, nature, and a relentless hunt for a better bug repellent after many long walks with my dog Rudy. 

I had spent 17+ years working behind the scenes in the beauty industry, in raw ingredients, R&D, and product development and then my brother sent me a New York TImes article that changed my career trajectory. That was the moment I discovered nootkatone, a naturally occurring compound found in grapefruit rinds and Alaskan cedarwood and has been used for decades in the food and fragrance industry. 

That same year, nootkatone was officially registered by the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) for a different reason: its ability to repel and kill insects like mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, lice, biting flies, and midges. Nootkatone disrupts the pests' nervous systems in a way that makes it harder for them to build resistance meaning it's as smart as it is effective.

After a few years of R&D and hundreds of formulations, I'm excited to share Noonka with you.
